Privacy policy
This policy covers the 1800 Mr Excavate website and the 1800 Mr Excavate operator portal app (website, Android and iPhone). 1800 Mr Excavate Pty Ltd ("we") handles personal information under the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). How the 1ME platform handles work and safety information is on the platform page. Last updated 24 October 2026.
Who uses the portal
The portal is only for people we have set up or approved: our operators, our clients and our office staff. Operators cannot sign themselves up. A business can register at /register, and we check and approve every business before its login opens.
What we collect
- Operators: name, mobile number, email, address, date of birth, emergency contact, licences and tickets (including photos of cards), skills, personal goals, rosters, hours worked, machine prestart checks and photos taken for them, employment type, time off you book (including the reason and, for sick leave of more than two days, your doctor's certificate), and a profile photo if you add one. Doctor's certificates are health information: only you and the office can see them, and clients are never told why you're unavailable.
- Fit-for-work check: at each prestart, operators answer how many hours they've slept in the last 24 and 48 hours and whether they're fit to work. Only the operator and the office see the answers. If the answers show someone isn't fit to start, the office is emailed so we can call them. The prestart record a client receives only says the check was done and whether the operator was fit — never sleep hours or reasons.
- Hazard and incident reports: what happened, where and when, photos, the names of people involved or who saw it, and — for injuries — who was hurt and the first aid given. Injury details are health information. Only the office and the operator who filed a report can see it in the app. The office may share a report with the client whose site it happened on, and must give it to SafeWork NSW if the law requires.
- Clients: company name, contact name, email, phone, ABN, site details and booking requests.
- Business registrations: what a business gives us on /register: business name, ABN, contact name, email, phone, region, the work it does and the machines it needs operators for, any note, and whether it wants industry updates by email. We use it to check the business, contact it about work and, only if it ticked the box, email industry updates. Anyone on that list can ask to come off it at any time. If we decline a registration, we keep the record only so we know it was reviewed.
- Everyone: the mobile number or email you log in with, and basic technical logs needed to keep the service secure.
We do not use advertising or tracking, and we do not sell personal information. The app does not track your location; it only records it when you tap "Add my location" on a hazard or incident report. Photos are only taken when you choose to add them.
Why we use it
- Rostering operators, telling them where and when they're working, and what the site requires
- Recording hours so we can pay operators and invoice clients
- Machine safety inspections and keeping safety records
- Following up hazards and incidents, telling the client, and meeting our duty to notify SafeWork NSW
- Checking tickets are current, and supporting each operator's training pathway
- Letting clients see and book operators
What clients can see about an operator
Only the operator's card: the name shown, photo, headline, years of experience, machines, skills, availability and which verified tickets are current. Clients never see ticket numbers, contact details, address, date of birth, pay or goals. An operator's card is only shown to clients after the operator approves it in the app, and they can withdraw it at any time.
Where it's stored
Data is stored with Supabase in its Sydney (Australia) region and is protected with access rules so each person can only see their own records. The website and app files are delivered by Cloudflare. Login text messages and emails are sent through our messaging providers. The app also keeps a copy of an operator's own roster and any unsent hours, prestarts or hazard and incident reports on their phone so it works without signal. If an operator taps "Talk instead", their phone's browser turns speech into text (on Android this uses Google's speech service); we only keep the text.
Access, correction and deletion
You can see your own details in the app at any time. To correct them, get a copy, or ask us to delete your account and data, call 1800 MR EXCAVATE or email [email protected]. Some records (such as timesheets and safety inspections) may need to be kept for legal, tax or work health and safety reasons; we'll tell you if that applies.
Complaints
Contact us first using the details above. If you're not satisfied with our response you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
